Yei Catholic Diocesan Counselling Center Director Fr. Tom Poru Martin says a sacrament is very important in strengthening people as true Catholics.
Radio Easter quoted him mentioning that for one to be a Christian he or she has to be baptized and get the baptism card.
“The sacrament is very important because it helps and strengthens us as Christians without sacrament we are weak, every day the sacrament helps us but first of all the sacrament is baptism because the baptism guides us, Christians are baptized people and if you are not baptized you cannot be called a Christian and for you to become a Christian you don’t make payment of money when you are registered in the registrar book and given the card to be a Christian for life though you changed to another religion from catholic to ECS and Muslim but when you change to another religion is up to you and the rest God will be the one to ask you in heaven”, Fr Poru explains.
The priest stresses that Jesus came and He did not live alone, but He came to help and teach people in order to show people the truth about Him.
“Jesus came not to live alone but to rule, help and teach people for many times you heard that Jesus taught people, gave food to people and he opened people’s eyes because he wanted to tell people the truth about him, the things that some people can’t do Jesus did it by giving many examples as he lives with people and teaching them to show that he is the true prophet”, he advises.
The priest was giving his homily at Christ the King Cathedral during the second mass in Yei.
