It is our collective responsibility to stop killings happening in the state because if revenge killing persists, we will not go ahead, says Archbishop Stephen Ameyu Martin Mulla, Apostolic Administrator of the Catholic Diocese of Torit.
He says “as Christians, let us embrace peace and forgiveness”, Radio Emmanuel reported.
“The death and killing that we have in Eastern Equatoria State is not the case of that person, but is my case, how can I bring this killing down? If we would persist on issue of revenge we will not go ahead, our Christianity will be very small. We talked to people many times that if we want to be real Christian let us forgive one another. No one can resurrect someone from the death if it was your brother, your sister or your father you cannot bring them back but you want to live in peace that is why this peace is our collective responsible, you should be a person for peace, wife for peace, child for peace and marriage for peace, like this peace will prevail”, the Archbishop says.
The Catholic prelate says peace at home and good relationship among believers is a character of God’s image.
He calls on Christians to continuously go to the church and pray for peace to prevail in the State.
“You should be people of peace at your homes, relationships between yourselves should be peaceful but without these our Christianity will be for Sundays only or for Christmas only like this that we are Christians but we could have to be Christians for 24 hours, 7 days in the week or 30 days in the month, we as the Christians let us say let me be a person for peace or let me preach peace in my heart to my brother or my sister, these are the things that we want to do in the beginning of the year”, the Archbishop explains.
The Archbishop made the remarks on Saturday at Our Lady of Holy Rosary during the ordination of Fr. Thomas Morris Solomon.
