Two primary schools in Kapoeta County of Eastern Eqautoria have not opened since the beginning of this academic year from February due to food shortage.

Good Shepherd Primary in Nanyangachor and Lotimor Primary in Lotimor Payam are still closed due to lack of food for their 300 pupils or so, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Eastern Equatoria Education Minister Michael Lopuke Lotyam told the press that food shortage in the two schools has been a challenge to the state government.

Mr. Lopuke said the ministry is seeking ways to ensure that the affected pupils cover the school programme.

He appealed to stakeholders in the education sector to urgently come to the aid of the two schools and bail the pupils by food provision.

Mr. Lopuke thanked the Catholic Diocese of Torit for providing education and Health and requested the diocese’s emergency department to rescue the starving pupils.
