Mayor condemns cases of insecurity in Torit town

The Mayor of Torit Municipal Council in Eastern Equatoria State has condemned the cases of insecurity happening in some residential areas within Torit town.

Joseph Oswaha says there was a reported case of house robbery over the weekend in Longute and Matara residential area, where some money was stolen.

“For the issue of security, we had little surprise some two days ago, some bandit/ criminals loots some homes in Torit in hai Longute area, to you someone who wanted to rob or steal people property I want to tell you that there is no money in Torit, what did you want to rob, the little someone has may be use it or buying some chairs, or groundnuts let him/her eat it peacefully at home you even go to your home you, even yesterday someone was almost to be robbed but car came and rescue”.

The Mayor says organised forces will be dispatched to the areas to provide security during the festive season.

“We have prepared over 100 forces to take care of Torit for about 10 days, beginning from tomorrow or next tomorrow, there are places that we will deploy them, more specially 23,24,25, and 26, we will deploy 5 or 10 police forces in every church a par from those who will be deployed along the roads, we want people to move freely, to pray to God free, people must be happy we don’t want anybody to disturb anyone, you criminals wasting your time if we arrest you, we will either cut one of your leg out”.

Joseph Oswaha calls on the public to report suspected cases of unusual happenings to the concerned authorities.

He also calls for cooperation between citizens and the authorities to help curb insecurity.

“Anybody that you see even if moving with a gun don’t attempt to talk to him, even if he is a soldier, a soldier is to arrest him, I want us to cooperate together, dear brothers and sisters, like what happen yesterday but one in Longute you see it but keeping quiet while keeping quiet yet we were still sited outside, you need to change every neighbour if you hear any issue to your neighbour you call the chief or mayor or the security you all have our numbers”.

The speaker made the statement to Radio Emmanuel in an exclusive interview from his office.
