Eastern Equatoria state minister condemned road attacks along Torit-Kapoeta-Chukudum roads.

Jerome Surur Gama described the incidents as unfortunate situations at a time when the people of the region are expecting peace dividends after the referendum, Emmanuel Rdio reported.

The minister said the recent spate of attacks could be engineered by disgruntled former fighters and those who have attained retirement under various circumstances.

Mr. Surur dismissed involvement and incursion of any external forces in the road attacks in Eastern Equatoria state.

He said forces of renegade George Athor were never part of the road attacks in the state.

A car belonging to a telecommunications network was the latest victim of the spate of road attacks hitting Eastern Equatoria state.

The driver identified as Ahmed Yusuf said he was carrying a team of technicians to Hiyala when unknown gunmen fired upon them on their return to Torit

Mr. Ahmed who was shot on both legs explained that the attackers were dressed on military uniforms.
