AMECEA says it has been faced with numerous challenges in terms of livelihoods due to Corona Virus.
In a statement to CRN, AMECEA says, since its member countries registered its first cases of COVID-19 in March 2020; there have been numerous challenges due to the radical response of the pandemic.
“The pandemic have characterized by lockdown of the economies, travel and schools, the loss of lives in our region due to COVID-19 is regrettable, yet on the whole, we thank God for the protection granted to our region so far. The human ingenuity towards development of vaccines, drugs and other interventions is commendable”.
AMECEA calls for fairness in the distribution of COVID-19 drugs and vaccines across the globe.
“We continue to encourage the faithful and other people of goodwill to not only take the vaccine, but also to abide by the established practices lifestyle necessary to enhance their immunity, AMECEA however urged the governments in our countries to respect individual rights and liberties it enforces responses to COVID-19”, said AMECEA.
It commends various organizations involved in raising awareness and responding to difficult situations.
The concerns were raised during the AMECEA justice and peace annual consultative forum in Donum Dei in Karen Kenya.
