The Presidency met yesterday in Khartoum and decided to resume next week post referendum negotiations, including the Abyei protocol.

GoSS regional cooperation minister Deng Alor, who escorted Salva Kiir Mayardit to Khartoum for the presidency meeting, told journalists following their arrival in Juba Airport today that the NCP and SPLM will resume talks next week.

He said the Presidency agreed to sort out the Abyei issue before the end of this month and the post referendum arrangements as soon as possible.

Mr. Alor added that consultations to resume the talks between the two parties have already started.

The minister said Thabo Mbeki, who heads the AU Panel on Sudan, will present the final proposal to solve the Abyei issue.

Mr. Alor added that a military intelligence committee was formed to study the documents leaked to the SPLM that led to suspension of the talks.

The minister said another committee was formed to investigate the incidences in Malakal and Abyei.
