War is not a solution to the Abyei crisis even if the political talks are not clear.

This is the view the Catholic parish priest of Abyei Fr. Peter Suleiman shared with SCR News through a phone call.

Fr. Suleiman said the fighting is not a solution for the Abyei issue.

The UN says that over 25,000 people left Abyei after militias invaded the region and started fighting with the local police.

Fr. Suleiman said that the displaced did not come back yet.

He added that many went to Agok and are staying with their families while others live rough around nearby villages.

Fr. Suleiman said there are no Misseriya people living in Abyei since 2008 and the area belongs to the Ngok Dinka community.
