SCHOOL OFFICIAL WELCOMES HUMAN RIGHTS INCLUSION IN CURRICULUM

A head teacher welcomed the government’s decision to include human rights in the nation’s new school curriculum.

The head of the Human Rights Commission Lawrence Korbandy told the press on Tuesday that the government will include a human rights subject in the school programme.

St. Joseph’s Primary School head teacher John Wani told SCR News that the subject will help students know about their rights and respect other children.

He added that the country so far has been celebrating Child Rights Day adding that the subject will enhance children’s knowledge on the other human rights.

Mr. Wani revealed that his teachers have been undergoing training on the Child Rights Act to ensure that they treat pupils in a more respectful manner.
