All primary schools in Lakes State have been asked to reopen on Monday and the schools authorities are confident that they will meet the deadline.

Lakes State Education Director General Kongor Deng Kongor told Good News Radio that teachers should report to their respective schools until Monday, adding that he expects the school year to go on until Christmas without extra breaks.

Mr. Kongor urged the teachers to cooperate with the school administration to observe the Monday reopening deadline and asked the education officials in the counties also to resume work on the same day.

Mr. Kongor said the early opening of schools is meant to ensure that programmes are covered within the academic year, adding that the last academic year had many interruptions.

He reiterated his appeal to teachers to teach from Monday to Friday, maintaining that his office is determined to improve the quality of education in the State.

In previous years, many primary schools in Lakes State started their academic year in April.
