Pope Francis’ delegates to meet South Sudan Presidency next month

Pope Francis is expected to send his delegation to visit South Sudan in December this year 2021, to meet the presidency.

The announcement was made by the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan, His Excellency Monsignor Maria Van Megen, at Good Shepherd Peace Center in kit, Archdiocese of Juba.

Speaking to CRN Reporter, Monsignor Van disclosed that, the secretary for the relation of the States of the Holy See, H.E Monsignor Paul Galiga, is among the delegates coming to the country.

He will meet with the president and his 5 Vice Presidents.

“Frist of all I think the point I also shared with bishops’ is the upcoming visit of H.E Monsignor Paul Galiga who is secretary for the relation of states of the Holy See, that means he is the minister of foreign Affairs of the Vatican who will be coming in December to visit the Country and hopes to be able to meet also the president of the Republic of South Sudan H.E Salver Kiir Mayardit, the vice presidents and other officials, not only to government officials, but also the representative of the church”, says Monsignor Van.

The delegation will be accompanied by the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury to encourage them further, in the peace process.

Monsignor Van acknowledged the great work done by the Church leaders in South Sudan.

He encouraged Christians to overcome the challenges facing the Church.

Monsignor Van said Pope Francis is with the people of South Sudan in Spirit and hopes he will visit the nation one day.
