Sudan People’s Liberation Movement for Democratic Change (SPLM-DC)) denied today thaT it is involved in arming militias and in the attacks that took place in Malakal last week.

SPLM secretary general Pagan Amum accused the SPLM-DC on Monday for arming militias and being responsible for the clashes that took place in Malakal.

Speaking on behalf of the political parties that withdrew from the constitutional talks last week, Peter Sule leader of the United Democratic Front affirmed that the SPLM-DC is a purely political party and has no intention of forming any militia.

He said Mr. Amum is an individual that is not interested in the unity of South Sudan.

Mr. Sule added that as a result of Mr. Amum’s allegations, more than 20 members of SPLM-DC have been arrested in Malakal on unknown charges.
