Health Pooled Fund in Eastern Equatoria State is appealing for AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 vaccines, to those people who have received the first jab.
Project Coordinator, Dr. Amin Gordiano Okwahi, says more than 2,000 people are waiting for the second dose, Radio Emmanuel reports.
“I had wanted to say something on the waiting second dose of Astra Zeneca I know it is really very challenging and we have a big number waiting second dose for Astra Zeneca in Eastern Equatoria State. As per the counties, we have in Torit County those waiting for the second dose are 1,355 and then in Kapoeta South, we have 888, in Kapoeta North we have 91, in Ikwoto we have 758, and in Magwi we have 263. These are the people waiting for the second dose of AstraZeneca. There is hope that they will be delivering this vaccine”.
UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Mikelele Bernard Ofuho in Torit, calls on the public to be patient, as the concerned countries donate the vaccines.
“There was a question that need clarification from UNICEF about the second batch or may be third batch of AstraZeneca, I know this is the global effort and these always comes from different countries, so there is no definite date for Astra Zeneca to come but of course the countries concern has pledge that they will send, so let wait until those vaccines comes then we will be able to really get also the same launching and the people with the first dose of AstraZeneca will receive their second dose”.
The speakers made the remarks during the launch of Johnson and Johnson Covid-19 vaccine in Torit State Hospital.
