Higher Education Ministry assess Equatoria International University in Torit

The delegation from the National Ministry of Higher Education in Juba has arrived in Torit on Wednesday for the reassessment of Equatoria International University

Briefing journalists upon the arrival in Torit airstrip, team leader Dr. Masimo Molinga said the aim of the visit to Torit is to re-inspect Equatoria International University temporary location of Torit technical school.

‘We want to see how far the university has gone and what is left so that they can give a boost for the takeover of the facility, he added.

“I am chairing the delegations that has been formed by the Ministry Higher Education to come to Torit to make an assessment of Equatoria International University College so that we see how far it has gone and what is left so that we have to a give the boost for the takeover of the university, this is our mission here. We will be here for about one or two or three days and we will go back then we report to the ministry of High Education and the ministry of higher education will share with the administration of the Equatoria International University College”, Molinga explained.

Meanwhile Equatoria International University Vice Chancellor Dr. Mayien Atilio says Covid-19 has delayed the progress of the university, but the facility is moving gradually.

“There was a first visit that has occurred two years ago because of Covid-19 also that delayed now the second visit is the testimony, so that Equatoria International University is not joking we are going slowly but sure to follow the laws of our country so that it can be accredited and become one of the University with the difference because we have signed PPI, Public Private Initiative with government of Eastern Equatoria so that is call public and private, so we need to work together with our government that is why these committee here is a history and they make an assessment then also probability we might also travel to Kapoeta because Equatoria International University has got a land given in Kapoeta we need to fence it because some years to come will also become one of our branch”, he said.

On his part, Cyprian Okuye Atar E.I.U Administrator said there is great hope that the university is going to look better than in the previous years.

“There is a very great hope that we are going to do better than the time when it was initiated, so this group will be having a consultative meeting with Equatoria International University the delegations from the Ministry of High Education Science and Technology Juba and the citizens of Eastern Equatoria State, after that we are going have a consultative meeting at the university ground and the next stage will be having meeting with the intellectuals the minister, NGOs, Faith Based Organizations and then the next meeting will be with community of Himodonge who had donated a land of one point two kilometres by one kilometre”, he noted.

Equatoria International University began in June 2019.
