The Eye Cataract Camp that was scheduled to kick off tomorrow at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Lakes State has been postponed indefinitely.

The two-week long camp targeting people with a clouding of the lens of the eye was organized by Arkangelo Ali Association (AAA) in collaboration with Dark and Light Dutch Organization.

The postponement was announced on Wednesday by the Medical Coordinator of AAA, Dr. Minani Callixte, via email.

Dr. Minani attributed the deferral to what he called the “volatile security situation in Mapuorit area”, adding that the eye operation event “will be rescheduled as soon as the security improves.”

The eye operation camp is to be implemented by Kenyan opticians from the Christian Medical Aid in partnership with AAA eye team in Mapuordit and will target 150 individuals who can make it to Mapuordit.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rosario Iannetti, the Director of Mary Immaculate Hospital on Wednesday evening told Good News Radio on phone that although the situation at Mapuordit Centre is quiet, the people remain scared of retaliatory attacks especially at night.
