Women Christian Association closes management and operation training

Young Women Christian Association concluded people with disabilities’ four-day workshop on organizational management and operation in Wau.

Association coordinator John Elias Bandas says the course was to raise the understanding that people living with disabilities are part of the society, Voice of Hope Radio reported.

He points out that people with disabilities are important pillars in the community and should be empowered at all levels.

“People with disability are not forever helpless but they can be very helpful to our community if they are given chances”, Elias adds.

Ismail Danga Morjan, one of the participants, calls on the government to consider their representation in the government in order to be part of the decision making in the country.

“if we don’t have representation in the government structure then our needs and aspirations will not be met”, he complains.

Manahil Issa Ali points out that they should be given some permanent seats or positions in every institution whether government or NGOs.

She adds that the community should also give them chances rather than regarding them as helpless people.

The workshop targets 30 participants with big number being people with disability in the state is under the project called “Together for inclusion”.
