Upper Nile University students are unhappy with the administration’s decision to close down the institution in the middle of their exams.

During last week’s clashes between forces loyal to commander Olony and the SPLA in Malakal town, there was some looting in the university and students were prevented from completing the exams that started on February 28 and would have finished today, Voice of Love FM reported.

Student Maluak Peter said he was annoyed with the administration’s decision saying he could not go home without completing the year’s exams.

Student John Tong, who lives in Salaam hostel, one of the places where there was heavy fighting, said some students were left with two to three exams.

He added the decision to close down the university was wrong and it showed the administration was not working hand in hand with the students.

Upper Nile University Students formed a committee to try to convince the administration reopen the university in order to finish their annual exams.

While the committee waits for a reply from the administration, students are frustrated, worried and annoyed at their hostels.
