SUDAN AID NETWORK PLANS FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS

The Caritas network, including many agencies related to the Catholic Church and working for development in Sudan, concluded today a two-day assembly in Juba to plan for the next two years.

About 80 people took past in the meeting, both from South and North Sudan, to share experiences and plan for the future.

They represent SUDANAID, the Sudanese branch of Caritas, Caritas international agencies and other church related aid groups.

Ilse Simma, Program Coordinator of the Caritas Coordination Unit in South Sudan, told SCR News that each diocese has an international partner.

She added that over 500 people from all dioceses in the Sudan were trained in emergency management.

Ms. Simma explained that the emergency preparedness program is rolling out at this very moment to assist returnees and host families.

She added that over 22,000 people are expected to benefit from the program, manly in the areas of Malakal and Wau, with non food aid.

The meeting closed today after the participants prepared a plan to assist the dioceses in north and south Sudan in the best possible way over the next two years.
