The Sudan’s People Liberation Movement in Opposition or (SPLM-IO) in Warrap are demanding for opening of political and civic space for all party members in the State.

Thedemand came after the governor of Warrap Aleu Ayieny Aleu launched a military exercise with heavily armed armours vehicles in the streets of Kwajok town on October 14, 2021.

In a statement says after that military exercise, the governor went to the council of ministers for swearing in ceremony of new appointed cabinet members, harassing and intimidated one of the cabinet members in the meeting in front of everyone mistaking him for being a SPLM IO member.

One of the SPLM caucus who read the statement Yolanda Awel Deng reveals that, the governor accused the SPLM IO party members as the ones causing chaos in the state.

He said the Governor also accused the SPLM-IO of lacking cooperation with him and that governor Ayieny has created an unsafe environment for the constitutional post holders in the state.

The SPLM IO caucus warned that if there no change in the situation, their members will withdraw from the state or request protection by UNMISS.

They called on security organs to continue being neutral and non-partisan.

The SPLM IO caucus urged the Revitalized Government to intervene and address the matter because it is a violation of the agreement and those acts are against peace in the country.

The SPLM IO caucus read the statement on Monday in Juba at the office of the First Vice president.
