The SPLM showed yesterday documented evidence that the NCP is funding militias in South Sudan to destabilize the region ahead of the independence.

SPLM secretary General Pagan Amum told the press that his party will resume post-referendum negotiations only when the NCP stops arming and financing militia groups to destabilize the South.

He cited documents as hard proof of the allegations that the NCP has plans to install a puppet government in Juba to boycott the independence.

The documents showed to the journalists appear to be NCP official internal communications from 2009 to late 2010.

Some pages indicate that Sudanese military leaders provided arms to key Southern rebels, including George Athor.

One of the documents dated September 22, 2010, from the head of northern military intelligence requested permission to arm Lam Akol.

Mr. Amum said his government can not discuss financial assistance to the North because the NCP will use the money to buy more arms to destroy South Sudan.

The SPLM said it will return to the talks only when the NCP stops arming South Sudan militias.
