Juba High Court on Thursday sentenced a 31-year-old woman to five years imprisonment over drug smuggling.
Presiding Judge Alexander Sebur Subek found Zerida Andrew Aliza guilty of trying to smuggle about 26 kg of heroin to Liberia through Juba International Airport, Radio Bakhita reported.
The drugs were discovered by security operatives at the airport packed in electric stabilizers to be transported.
On his part the prosecutor, Emmanuel John Loro, said they are going to appeal the judgement it was unfair according to him.
Meanwhile the Defence Lawyer James El Taib Jaas, stressed that court sentence is fair as the accused is a mother of a small child and she is also a student.
Last Year November, security operatives at Juba International Airport arrested the five suspects including one South Sudanese woman and four foreign nationals, two Nigerians and two Kenyans trying to smuggle heroin from Uganda to Liberia via Juba international Airport.
