UPPER NILE GOVERNOR APPEALS TO REBEL LEADER TO STOP MISUSING SHOLLO NAME

The governor of Upper Nile state appealed to a local militia commander to stop using the Shollo or Shilluk name while fighting against innocent citizens in the state.

Simon Kun Puoch told the press yesterday in Malakal that rebel commander Olony had no reason at all to fight and misuse the name of the Shollo people, Voice of Love reported.

He appealed to Shilluk intellectuals and senior citizens to confront Mr. Olony so that he does not use the name of Shollo for political gains.

Mr. Kun explained that according to the state Constitution Mr. Olony is an outlaw because he attempted to gain power through violence.

He added that in a democratic society leadership is contested through elections.

Mr. Kun said that ethnic groups of Upper Nile have no any reason to fight the Shilluk community.

He added that if any Shollo person organizes militias to fight against the state that individual is wrong.
