Monsignor Christian Carlassare will soon be ordained Bishop of Rumbek, reveals Archbishop Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megen, Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan.

He said the Catholic Bishops and other leaders will deliberate in their meeting on his Episcopal consecration.

“The question of Monsignor Carlassare, some of you I think have seen his letter some days ago. We will speak about it later on, we are very positive that very soon he will be ordain a bishop, that is something may be as bishop we should try to discuss once again and looking at Monsignor Matthew who was also appointed the Apostolic Administrator of Rumbek so that Monsignor Carlassare will also find his place and then he also can further develop and lead the diocese of Rumbek which has been waiting for so long for a new bishop and has gone through so many challenges especially last year”, he elaborates.

Archbishop van Megen discloses that Vatican is pushing for building of Nunciature or its Embassy in Juba so that South Sudan can have its separate Nuncio.

The Apostolic Nuncio to South Sudan earlier introduced new Charge’ de Affairs of the Nunciature, Jonut Paul Strejac who expresses willingness to work in South Sudan with Bishops, priests and all faithful to serve Christ
