The mayor of Torit Municipal Council Joseph Oswaha is urging traders within Torit main market to use the temporary space provided to them correctly, by opening the roads to allow big trucks off-load their goods easily.

The order came following several concerns that the traders have decided to expand their shops blocking the open roads within the market.

“I received many complaints from the market, the blocking of the roads within the market. People extending their unnecessarily without the request from the government or local government authority which is Torit Municipal council, each of all of everyone in the business Centre in the market, had a limited plot temporarily given to them, but as we have seen today, I went there by myself to prove it out and I found out that it is really very important that I had arrived to the market today to know exactly those allegations which come through. People extend their meters before their shops getting money from the roads of the market”, said the Mayor.

Oswaha says because of the congestion in the market, big trucks are facing difficulties off-loading their goods.

He calls for cooperation between traders and the authorities to open the roads as before.

“To bring goods with big trucks to the market is impossible. Let us open the roads in the market. I did this because of you, let us cooperate and understand each other to open these roads in the market so that big trucks can enter into the market to offload their goods and services. I don’t have any mission or anything, I just want this roads to be opened”, Mayor Oswaha stressed.

The Mayor spoke to Radio Emmanuel in an exclusive interview in his office in Torit.
