World Bank and Agriculture Ministry ink 113 million-dollars deal for farming

World Bank and national Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security on Thursday in Juba signed an agreement worth 113.2 million US Dollars for agricultural projects in the country.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Josephine Joseph Lagu, said the money is for implementation of resilient, agriculture livelihood and desert locus response projects, Radio Bakhita reported.

She says the two projects will encourage agricultural activities and end to food insecurity and nutrition in the country.

Josephine called on the World Bank to invest more resources on the resolution of agricultural challenges facing the country.

Country Director of World Bank Ousmane Dione stressed that if the project is fully implemented it will encourage confidence for the international partners to invest in South Sudan.

He called on all South Sudanese to support the projects to realize success.

The officials spoke after World Bank and national Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security signed an agreement worth 113.2 million US Dollars on Thursday in Juba.
