Farmers Association in Central Equatoria is appealing to the government to find amicable solutions to address their problems with pastoralist to avoid destruction of crops by cattle.
Speaking during an advocacy and lobby meeting organized by DMI South Sudan on Thursday, in Juba, Farmers Association representative, Modi Chaplain, demands the government to impose laws that push cattle owners whose animals destroys crops, Radio Bakhita reported.
Country Director of Society of Daughters of Mary Immaculate DMI Sr Jeny Maila stresses that it is the role of the government to establish laws that address problems between farmers and cattle destruction of crops.
Meanwhile, Halima Florence, a farmer in Joppa residential calls on the Ministry of Agriculture to support them with pesticides to control diseases affecting their crops.
Early this year Central Equatoria State government ordered all cattle keepers to evacuate Kajo-Keji County for farmers to grow their crops.
