Sexual gender violence reduces gradual since schools reopened, says officer

There is a gradual reduction in case related to sexual gender-based violence especially child related cases since the reopening of schools early last month.

Aiteng Humwara Jenty, Warrant Officer at the Special Protection Unit in Torit, Eastern Equatoria State confirmed to Radio Emmanuel on Wednesday.
She says domestic violence is mostly common cases registered of recent.


“Actually, according to the registration that we handled the cases of GBV for two to three months, we registered cases of domestic violence, for May we have seen there is decrease since the lockdown whereby the children have gone to school, we have never registered many cases we have seen that there is decrease now.” he affirms.

The Warrant officer says lack of awareness on laws among communities’ underground is reason as why there is failure to forward cases of violence to the authorities.


She urges people not to remain silent, but rather report such issues through the local leaders.
