About seven calves were raided from Losolia Mountain in New Site of Kapoeta by a suspected group of rustlers from Turukana, Kenya on Saturday May,29, 2021 at 4pm.
Speaking to Radio Emmanuel, Kapoeta East County Commissioner, Abdallah Angelo, says the communities are living in peace amidst the incident that took place.
“from the side of Kenya, some three days’ back turkana raided calves from Losolia mountain, but we are all living in peace with them nothing bad, even everything in the village is going on well, they took 7 calves and we don’t know this is something that they know, but they could have stand with us, and talk with us so that we can
help them it would be good.”
Commissioner Angelo says revenge attacks are the major cause of conflicts among the Toposa in South Sudan and Turukana in Kenya that has claimed lives of innocent civilians.
“Nothing new, the issue what have been causing every problem in Kapoeta east, was the issue of revenge, but we told people to stop revenge and stay in peace, I told them revenge will make revenge attack to continue, we told the Turukana that, you people have women we also have women, you have children we also have children, you have elders we also have elders so in this problem we must be transparent and fear our citizens, and our country so that this people live in peace.”
The Commissioner says border tension between the two communities, of Toposa and Turkana still remains a challenge.
Radio Emmanuel could not reach the authorities of Turkana land, to comment on the matter.
