Muok and Thonj community sections of Tonj South County of Warrap State on Saturday joined efforts in negations to restore peace over cattle grazing land.
According to Don Bosco Radio the two conflicting communities agreed amicably to end fighting and restart afresh unified living as brothers and sisters after so many lives have been claims and thousands fled their homes for safer areas.
The peace deal celebration has been finally reached after Muok community travelled to Akonchok of Manyangok Payam of Thonj community to mark their first day of peace recommencement so as to vow for durable peace in their communities.
Thonj youth representative, Albino Alaboch, called on young people to implement the resolutions in order to achieve a lasting peace between two communities and extend it to the other sections including Yar Ayiei and Apuk Jiwiir of Tonj in general.
Alaboch encouraged the youth to be peace ambassadors and advocates in order to prosper.
SPLM secretary for Tonj South County Gabriel Majok Manyual disclosed that both sides’ pastoralists will soon share grazing land for cattle and free movement of people along the feeder roads linking Manyangok to Malualmuok.
He advised both sides to forgive the atrocities and start a new chapter of peace and promised to hold accountable those involved cattle theft after peace.
