Yei County Health Department, in collaboration with World Health Organization or WHO, has started a five days’ vaccination campaign against yellow fever.
This campaign follows a confirmed outbreak of the disease in Kajo-Keji County last Year with two patients reported dead.
Speaking to Radio Easter in an interview, Yei County Health Department Director, Michael Lugala, says the campaign targets Payams and counties bordering Kajo-Keji County.
Lugala says beneficiaries will be issued with yellow fever cards after the vaccination to help travellers visiting outside countries.
Yei River County Commissioner, Aggrey Cyrus Kanyikwa, notes that the Yellow fever is an international threat, but the vaccine will protect people against it.
He describes the vaccination as a rare opportunity to the people of Yei.
