The Torit Local Football Association in Eastern Equatoria State organized training for administrators of all teams on managerial skills to help them manage their players successfully for the development of football in the state.
Radio Emmanuel reported that last year the premier league tournament in the state was not played due to the Corona virus pandemic in the country.
During the opening, President of Torit Local Football Association Akile Maridi said the course targets the club’s administrators to have managerial knowledge and skills to benefit their teams.
“This training is an administrative training, we are actually targeting administrators of the clubs Torit Local Football Association, because this training is very much important and it is in line with our work plan when we came in to the office, is very, very much important to manage the football clubs. if you do not have managerial skills you cannot manage a club to our expectations, so we see as a priority to do this so that our clubs benefit, we have about 28 teams in all this division , visually I can confirm that 95% of the clubs are here represented”, he explains.
Facilitator, William Okot De Toby working for South Sudan Football Association, urges the administrators to put the knowledge gained from the training into practices to achieve their goal.
“Whatever I have given them today I fell should not just remain with them they should put in to practices whatever I train them on because this is a general knowledge in management is not only in football they can use it in the community wherever they work as members of the board of association or board of the club, so it will be very good for them to put in to practice so that they are guided, because when you are aiming at achieving a goal you must have clear way of how to archive it knowledge is paramount in achieving a goal”, he advises.
A participant, Daniel Deng who is the secretary of the Nile Star team in Torit says he faced much difficulty in his team because he served two duties at a time; administrative and coach.
He mentions that the training will help him focus on his duties only.
“The training today was a nice training I hope for the benefit of our club and on my behalf, we are going to deal with the incoming and outgoing generation for the benefit of football in Torit town and Eastern Equatoria particular as well South Sudan, I have been experiencing a lot I sue to mix work of coach, referee, and the work of administration but today I have experienced a lot of knowledge in which I will stand for my own job not to intermingle with the work of coaches and referee”, he notes.
On his part, Angelo Ohisa Valeriano, Sports Commissioner in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, says their activities are for promoting unity and peace among people in the state.
He says it is their first time to attain such training that will help them with skills to support the state.
“The training today is the first training to us in Torit, I congratulate the people who brought the training, this is something that will support us in the state, for us here in Torit we are playing football and in South Sudan here Torit has a lot of big players, you have given us this training is very good and is the first time for the association to have it. We need to speak the truth this is also knowledge to us and football is unity and peace.
