El-Obeid Catholic coadjutor Bishop made his first pastoral visit to Nuba Mountains on Friday.

Bishop Michael Didi Adgum Mangure celebrated the Mass in Rigifi centre of Lumun Parish.

The bishop told Voice of Love FM that the visit was inserted in a vast programme that includes other parts of the diocese.

Bishop Didi, who was consecrated on August 15, 2010, said he will collaborate with titular Bishop Macram Max Gassis of El-Obeid, because the diocese is not divided.

He added that the two bishops had a pastoral meeting in Nairobi to plan the work together.

Bishop Didi said he was optimistic about the preparations for elections in South Kordofan that are due in May.

He warned that demanding challenges should be met with good minds to avoid return to violence.

Bishop Didi added that Sharia law should not be implemented in Nuba Mountains because its imposition should be seen more as a political declaration rather than a religious act.

He added that the situation of the Church in the North of Sudan will be discussed in the next Bishops’ Assembly slated for Juba next month.
