The Bishop-elect for the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek, Monsignor Christian Carlassare is getting much improvement from his gunshot wounds sustained in Monday’s attack.

The Monsignor through Good News Radio on Wednesday in Nairobi Hospital asked Christians to continue praying for his quick recovery.

Monsignor Carlassare appealed to Christians in the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek and South Sudan in general to take the good news of Christ to everyone, assuring the faithful of his return to the diocese when he recovers.

“Let us be truthful and stand for justice in the country,” he pleaded.

The Comboni Missionary was appointed Bishop of Rumbek Diocese in March by Pope Francis to succeed late Bishop Caesar Mazzolari who died in 2011.

He was shot in both legs on Monday by two armed men whose motives still remain unclear.

Authorities in Lakes State have arrested over 20 suspects in connection to bishop-elect’s shooting.
