IDPs receive first donation from NGO since their displacement in Lainya

Internally Displaced Persons’ from Lainya County in Central Equatorial State have received their first donation of none food items from Support for Peace and Education Development or SPEDAP since they were displaced last week.

SPEDAP is a None Governmental Organization or NGO working in the area.

The IDPs were displaced after reported clashes between the SSPDF and forces of the National Salvation Front in Mukaya Payam early last week.

Speaking to Radio Easter, Program Manager, Mbali Peter, confirms that the items donated to the IDPS include sleeping mats, kitchen set, jerrycan, mosquito nets.

Mbali stresses that the IDPS are in a dire humanitarian situation that need intervention.

Joseph Juma Samson, head of the IDP camp, confirms that about two hundred and thirty-six households and one thousand eighty-five people are sheltering at Gezira IDP camp in Yei River County.

He regrets that this is the first time the displaced persons are receiving assistance since their displacement.
