JUBA AUXILIARY BISHOP TO BE ORDAINED TOMORROW

Father Santo Loku Pio is to be ordained tomorrow auxiliary bishop of Juba in a ceremony attended by representatives from all the dioceses of Sudan.

The ordination mass takes place at 10:30 AM in St. Theresa’s Cathedral, in Kator, and Archbishop Poalino Lukudu Loro will the main consecrator.

Father Samuel Abbe explained to Bakhita Radio that Fr. Loku will receive the episcopal order by three bishops, a demand of the Law of the Church.

He also spoke about the different moments of the episcopal ordination: questioning, anointment, giving of the Gospel, ring and staff, all performed by Archbishop Lukudu assisted by the other two bishops.

Bishops Erkolano Lodu of Yei and Rudolf Deng of Wau will assist Archbishop Poalino Lukudu in the episcopal ordination of Fr. Loku.

The Pope appointed Fr. Loku Auxiliary Bishop for the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba on 27 November 2010.

The new bishop, who is 42, was the parish priest of Terekeka before his transfer to St. Theresa’s parish as assistant parish priest to prepare for the episcopal consecration.
