Eastern Equatoria is working on a conflict resolutions programme to minimize risks and bring peaceful coexistence among the many communities in the region.

Alphonse Muras Chacha, who is a state adviser on peace and reconciliation, told Emmanuel radio that conflict early warning and early response technical team identified several inter-county boarder issues that it is trying to address through peace conferences and service delivery.

Mr. Muras said causes of conflict in the state include the change of administrative areas.

He said the people of Lofi want to be transferred to Torit County and the residents of Ketebo and Lorwama are fighting over the Payam headquarters.

Mr. Muras said boarder issues that are the main cause of conflict in the state should be addressed as soon after the formation of the new South Sudan government.

Meanwhile, the team will be organizing peace conferences as a remedy to conflicts.
