People accused of murder in the clashes that broke out between the cattle camp youths of Thiet and Wuanh-Alel, in Tonj South County, Warrap state last month were jailed while the innocents were set free.

Prison officer Patrick Mayik told Don Bosco FM that the 18 youths accused of murder during the clashes remained in the prison while 41 others were released.

Mr. Mayik said the crimes in Tonj South County are mostly related with murder, adultery and theft.

Mr. Mayik said it is the duty of educated people to spread peace and reconciliation among the fighting communities especially in Warrap, Lakes, Unity and Jonglei states.

He called on Christians to pray for peace to stop such clashes.

Mr. Mayik said that the mistake that happened two years back will not repeat itself.

Then, the chiefs signed a memorandum to release prisoners accused of murder saying they would bring them back to justice and failed.

The chiefs were subsequently put under arrest.

Mr. Mayik noted that the police will complete investigations before the 18 arrested youths were taken to court.
