The president of South Sudan warned officials charged with corruption that they will be persecuted.

Salva Kiir Mayardit said until now the CPA implementation was his main concern, Bakhita Radio reported.

He added that the referendum is over and he will turn against dishonest officials who steal public funds.

Mr. Kiir wondered where the huge sums of money collected from the tax ended up.

He said people in authority should account for public money.

Mr. Kiir concluded that officials accused of mismanaging public funds would be asked to pay back the money they wasted.

The president made these statements yesterday at Aswa during the inauguration of the Juba-Nimule road asphalt works.
