Director-General in the former Yei River State Ministry of Health on Wednesday confirmed that Yei has registered its first death case of covid-19.
Dr James Wani explained that the case was a suspect referred from Lainya County to Yei Civil Hospital and died on Saturday, Radio Easter reported.
He said samples were collected from the patient and sent to Juba for testing and later confirmed that the patient died of the novel corona virus.
The director-general mentioned that currently there is one case of corona virus pandemic in Yei.
He confirmed that the other two patients of covid-19 in Yei recovered and are free from the virus now.
Dr Wani cautioned the citizens not to ignore corona virus but continue to maintain the rules and regulation to safeguard the society from the pandemic.
