EABC endorses Ambassador Amina for World Trade Organization position

The East African Business Council or EABC endorsed the nomination of Ambassador Amina Mohammed, for the position of Director-General in the World Trade Organization or WTO.
 
Chief Executive Officer of EABC Dr. Peter Mathuki said Amina Mohamed joining the WTO will be timely as Africa is keenly focusing on the African Free Trade Area.
 
He praise that she is a strong advocate for the actualization of the African Free Trade Area.
 
Her passion for international trade, exemplary strategic leadership, diplomatic and negotiation skills makes her the right candidate for the job, the official added.
 
Dr Mathuki pointed out that ambassador Amina’s success to the position will be a great opportunity for the EAC and Africa to champion global economic policy to increase the continent’s share in the world trade.
 
‘The business community in East Africa is assured that Ambassador Amina Mohamed will steer the WTO to greater heights’, Dr. Mathuki said. 
 
Africa’s active and strategic participation in the negotiations at WTO is vital to unlock the economic potential of the continent and increase access to international markets, he stressed.
