The National Ministry of Health says it has planned to launch voluntary testing for COVID-19 across South Sudan.
The spokesperson of the ministry Dr. Thou Loi says the initiative aims to boost the fight against coronavirus pandemic in the country.
He adds COVID-19 testing was only allowed to travellers and contacts of people who tested positive.
Dr Loi expresses disappointment over the continued disregard of preventive measures introduced by health specialists to reduce spread of the virus.
Currently South Sudan’s confirmed COVID-19 cases stands at 2,211, with 45 deaths and 1,185 recoveries as of July 20.
The official spoke during weekly press briefing on Sunday.
