The Community of Rubkona County in Unity State demand for reconstruction of the destroyed buildings during the multiple incidences of conflicts.

Speaking during the launch of first police station by the UN office in Bentiu, the community addressed their challenges on effects of the absence of rule of law on their lives.

The community representative Junub Kon says they hope that security will be prioritised in the state.

He adds they have been voluntarily cleaning the town and planting trees to save the environment.

Meanwhile Minister of Defence Angelina Teny explains the main obstacle to security is inter-communal conflict.

She adds this makes it hard for police to handle due to lack of capacity.

“If we were to have police that are handling this issue particularly would be better, maybe creating community policing and so on will go a long way, and then eventually the army would have no reason to be engaged in such”, the minister explains.

The Police representative Brigadier Stephen Yen Kurwai, says this is the first time to have a stable office after multiple conflicts occurred in the past years.

He wished for more development in the state to allow citizens resume their previous duties.

Many roads in unity state are in very poor condition making it difficult for sick people to access health facilities.

The officials were talking during the inauguration of the police station by the UN Mission in South Sudan in Rubkona county of Bentiu in Unity State.
