Whitaker trains 34 people on dialogue and peace reconciliation in Yei

Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative is training 34 people in two-day forum on strengthening dialogue for peace and reconciliation in Yei River.
 
Radio Easter quoted Initiative Program Manager, Bush Buse, saying the aim of the forum is to identify and analyze conflict issues and come out with solutions that help address issues.
 
He added that the forum also has special focus on the role of the media and building confidence, trust, promote professionalism and conflict sensitive reporting.
 
Buse said the media is facing a lot of challenges in South Sudan. 
 
UNMISS team leader James Mugo explained that there are a lot of conflicts and displacements of civilians from Mukaya county now sheltering in Gezira, others in Kupera, and 5,300 in Lainya.
 
Mugo mentioned that people cannot provide health services when social conflict is ongoing with a lot of implications.
 
He mentioned that Central Equatoria and Jonglei regions are conflict spots in South Sudan currently.
 
The speakers made their comments during the opening of the forum organized by Whitaker Peace and Development Initiative.
 
The event brought together civil society organizations, organized forces, youth, women, NGOs, community and religious leaders in Yei.
