Authorities in Jonglei State say over twenty people were killed in a series of cattle raiding.

Speaking to Bakhita Radio, Jonglei State Police Commissioner Major General Joseph Mayen Akoon says, the area has experienced several cattle raids this week alone.

He says an attack on a cattle camp in Dut Padiet on Friday left at least 13 people dead and 16 others wounded.

He alleges that the attack was carried out by neighbouring youth from Pibor Administrative Area.

Mayen calls on the Committee recently formed by President Salva Kiir to investigate the ongoing violence in Jonglei and Pibor Administrative Area to speed up its work in order to find a solution to the conflict.

Greater Jonglei and Pibor regions have been experiencing wave of inter-communal violence that has left hundreds of people dead and thousands displaced.
