South Sudan Women Leaders on the Peace Process are calling on the President of the Republic to consider the 35 percent representation of women as stated in the constitution.

In a statement read by the women’s representative Caroline Kibos says they are deeply concern about the diminishing position of women in the peace process.

She adds it is overwhelming to rule out women’s participation in the country.

Kibos adds they submitted names of women who are capable to be governors but none were appointed.

The chairperson of women leaders Amer M Deng stresses that the president should consider the women in leadership because it is their constitutional rights.

She adds the president should ensure that all deputy governors’ are women or the state ministries should be divided equally.

The women leaders made the remarks at South Sudan Council of Churches on Thursday in Juba.
