Eastern Equatoria education authorities announced that schools are to reopen next week.
State minister for Education, Science and Technology Michael Lopuke Lotyam told Emmanuel Radio that primary, secondary and other learning centres in the state will resume activities on February 13.He said schools are currently registering students.
Mr. Lopuke explained that the referendum exercise did not affect directly the school calendar.
He added that there might have been some indirect effects of the referendum but they were positive for the achievement of the ultimate goal of the people of Southern Sudan.
The minister said he hopes that the education programmes in the state will continue normally this year, without political interruptions.
