The Director General in the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry of defunct Tonj State says low rain since the beginning of this year and inter-communal conflicts affect farming this year.

Dominic Manong Arol says farming activities have reduced to at least forty-five percent compared to previous years because rain started late and many farmers have been displaced due to conflicts.

He adds that the tractors donated by President Salva Kiir Mayardit have all broken down.

The Director General encourages all the people of Tonj and the bordering communities to stay peacefully with one another to carry on normal activities.
