Public Health Laboratory confirms 72 new Covid-19 cases

The national Public Health Laboratory in Juba on Thursday confirmed seventy-two new cases of covid-19 in the country, bringing the tally to 1,670.
 
COVID-19 Incident Manager Dr Richard Loku said the laboratory confirmed the new cases positive in the last 24 hours.
 
He added that two people died due to coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total fatalities over the virus to 24.
 
The health official said 48 people have recovered so far and discharged from hospitals. 
 
He further said a patient who is severely ill is being treated at Dr. Garang Infectious Disease Unit.
 
Dr Loku said the ministry of health is tracing contacts of those who tested positive in the last 24 hours.
 
He urged the public to strictly observe rules of social distancing, wear face masks and other measures declared by the government.
 
The Incident Manager advised communities to report suspected coronavirus cases to the nearest health facility or call the free toll – number 6666.
