Clergy in the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba met this morning to reflect on their role in the post referendum scenarios.
Fr. Martin Ochaya, archdiocesan secretary general, told Bakhita Radio that the participants discussed many issues during the reflection, incluiding reconciliation of the people of Southern Sudan and the Church’s participation in the resettlement of returnees.The priests also looked into the Church’s stand in the current review process of the Constitution of South Sudan.
Fr. Ochaya explained that the Church is interested in being active part of the review process.
He added that although the technical committee is already appointed, the church still needs to share and give inputs into what is going to be the fundamental law for the whole nation.
Fr. Ochaya explained the importance of the Church’s involvement in the review process saying it needs to look into things within the Constitution from moral aspect of view.
He called on all stakeholders in the peace process in South Sudan to continue working together with the Churches for the common good.
