Doctors’ Union condemns harassment of health workers in Juba

The South Sudan Doctors’ Union has condemned the harassment of front line health workers fighting COVID-19 in the country.
 
The union says three of their staff recently detained at gunpoint by members of the organized forces in a hotel in Juba.
 
The health workers were allegedly assaulted after they had gone to trace a COVID-19 suspect in Atlabara.
 
The doctors Union issued a statement saying acts of violence against health personnel are violation of human rights.
 
They call on authorities to investigate the incident and take disciplinary actions against perpetrators, the statement reads in parts.
 
The union further urges National Taskforce on COVID-19 to guarantee security and prevent any violence against healthcare personnel across the country.
